Minecraft seed map
Type a seed or open your own world and explore it before you play. Biomes, villages, strongholds, mansions, slime chunks and more, for every Java version.
A seed map for every Java version
A world seed is a number, and the game builds the whole world from it. This map runs the same world generation as Minecraft Java inside your browser, so what you see is what the game will build: biomes, villages, strongholds, mansions, monuments, ancient cities, trial chambers, nether fortresses, bastions and end cities.
Use it to pick a spawn before you start a server, to find a village or a stronghold without exploring, to plan a base next to a rare biome, or to check a seed a friend shared.
Open your own world
Drop your world folder, a zip of it or the level.dat file on the map. The seed and the version come out of level.dat, the spawn point is marked, and the region files show which parts you have already explored. All of it stays in your browser.
Not sure where the world is? Singleplayer worlds are in the saves folder inside your .minecraft folder. On a server, it is the folder named by level-name in server.properties, usually called world.
Locations to jump to
Every structure on the map opens a small card with the coordinates and a /tp command to copy. The list under the map shows what is closest to the middle of your view, which is the fast way to find the nearest village or fortress.
Questions
How do I use a Minecraft seed map?
Type your world seed, choose your Minecraft Java version and press Show the map. Drag to move, scroll or pinch to zoom, and click any icon for its coordinates and a ready /tp command.
How do I find my world seed?
On a server or in singleplayer with cheats on, run /seed. You can also drop your world folder, a zip of it or its level.dat file onto the map, and the seed is read for you.
Are my world files uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read inside your browser and goes nowhere. There is no upload, no account and nothing is stored.
Which Minecraft versions does it support?
Java Edition from 1.0 up to the newest release, each with its own world generation. Pick the version your world was made in, because biomes and structures changed a lot, most of all in 1.18.
Does it work for Bedrock?
Not yet. Bedrock generates worlds differently from Java, so the same seed gives a different world. This map is for Java worlds for now, and Bedrock support is planned.
Why does my map not match my world?
Usually the version is wrong, or Large Biomes is off while the world used it. Parts of a world generated on an older version also keep their old shape after you update.
What does the seed text do if it is not a number?
Minecraft turns any text into a number the same way every time, and this map does the same, so typing a word gives the same world as typing that word in the game.
Can I see the area I have already explored?
Yes. Open your whole world folder or its zip and the region files you explored are outlined in yellow on the map.
