About Saryno
Saryno is a Minecraft server host. It is built and run by one person: me, Kosy.
Why I made it
Most of the time a Minecraft server for friends sits empty. Paying for a machine to run all day for one evening of play felt wasteful, and the free options often came with ads, queues or time limits. So I built a host where an empty server costs nothing: it is saved to disk when the last player leaves, and it wakes within seconds when a friend joins.
How it works
Every server is its own small virtual machine. When it sleeps, the whole machine, memory included, is written to disk as a snapshot and restored when a player connects. The platform, the dashboard and the orchestration that moves servers between machines are written in Rust and Svelte. I write about how it works on the blog, including the bugs I met on the way.
What it costs
1 GB is free forever. More memory is $3 per GB a month, or $27 per GB for a year. There are no ads.
