Why Paper and not Vanilla?
The vanilla server has no plugin support and it is slower with many players. Paper keeps the game the same for players, adds plugins, and fixes many performance problems. If you only want a plain world for a few friends, Vanilla is fine. For nearly everything else, Paper is the better choice.
