Minecraft circle generator
Pick a diameter and see the circle to build, row by row, with the number of blocks you need.
How the circle is drawn
A block is part of the circle when its centre is inside the circle of the diameter you chose. The ring keeps only the blocks that touch the outside, so you place fewer blocks and can fill the middle with something else.
The row list tells you exactly how to build each line: how many blocks, then how many gaps, from left to right. It works for towers, arenas, spawn platforms and the base of a dome.
Questions
Why is a circle in Minecraft made of steps?
Blocks are square, so a circle is drawn by choosing which blocks sit closest to the curve. Odd diameters have a single centre block; even diameters have a centre between four blocks.
Odd or even diameter?
An odd diameter has one centre block, which makes it easy to place a pillar or a beacon in the middle. An even diameter has no single centre but is symmetrical in both directions.
How do I build it?
Mark the centre and the four furthest points, then follow the rows from the top: each row says how many blocks to place and how many gaps to leave. Build one quarter, then copy it.
Can I build a sphere or a dome?
Stack circles of the right size: a dome is a set of circles that get smaller as you go up. A circle for each height is the same idea.
