A Minecraft server where Java and Bedrock players play together
Your friends on phones and consoles do not need to buy another game. Switch on Bedrock players and they join the same world as everyone else.
No card needed. 1 GB free forever.
How crossplay works
Bedrock and Java speak different network languages. Geyser translates between them, and Floodgate lets Bedrock players sign in with their Xbox account without owning a Java account. Both are plugins for a Paper server, and on Saryno they are one checkbox.
- One world, one set of plugins, one whitelist
- Bedrock players get their own address and port
- Names of Bedrock players start with a dot so they never clash with Java names
- Works for phones, tablets, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and Windows
Set it up
Make a Paper server, tick "Bedrock players" in the add-ons, and open the Overview: it shows the Java address and the Bedrock address with its port. Console players add a server through a free trick the Saryno guide explains, because consoles hide the server list.
- Tick Bedrock players when creating the server, or add it later in the Plugins tab
- Use the connection check to test both addresses
- Share the Bedrock address and port with your friends
What to know
Some Java-only features and a few plugins behave differently for Bedrock players, such as custom items and some menus. Keep your plugins simple at first, and test with a Bedrock device before you invite everyone.
Questions
Does Bedrock crossplay cost extra?
No. Geyser and Floodgate are free plugins. You only need enough memory for them, about 2 GB total is comfortable for a small server.
Can Bedrock players use the same world as Java players?
Yes. They join the same server, see the same builds and chat together.
Do Bedrock players need a Java account?
No. Floodgate signs them in with their Microsoft or Xbox account.
