NeoForge server hosting
NeoForge is where most new Forge-style mods are made. Saryno builds the server for you, installs your mods from Modrinth, and keeps the world safe.
No card needed. 1 GB free forever.
What you get
A NeoForge server that is ready to play in a few minutes, even the first time a version is used.
- Every NeoForge release for the Minecraft versions it supports
- A Mods tab: add mods by name from Modrinth, or upload jars
- Modrinth modpacks in one step: find the pack, and Saryno makes a server of the right loader and version and installs it
- A console that shows exactly which mod failed and why, and a button that names it
- Backups, a file manager and SFTP for large uploads
- Move in from another host over SFTP or FTP
How much memory?
NeoForge and its mods use more memory than Paper. Start with 3 GB for a handful of mods and 4 to 6 GB for a large pack. The memory calculator and the size picker warn you when a choice is tight.
Your players need the mods too
Content mods must be installed on every player's computer as well. Give them the same modpack from Modrinth, or a launcher profile, and they can join with the server address.
Questions
Can I use CurseForge modpacks?
Not directly. Modrinth packs install in one step. Many CurseForge packs are also on Modrinth, and you can always upload mods by hand with SFTP.
What is the difference between Forge and NeoForge?
NeoForge started as a continuation of Forge and is where most new mods are made. Mods for one do not run on the other, so use the loader your mods list.
Can I switch from Forge to NeoForge later?
You can switch the software in settings, but the mods must be replaced with versions made for the new loader.
